African Women’s Lockdown Dhuku

During lockdown many people could not get to their hairdressers and my African friends and family decided to showcase the different ways to wear headscarves (dhuku in Shona, my mother tongue from Zimbabwe).

Dhukus are an integral fashionable headdress in Africa and  so I decided to make paintings inspired by photographs sent to me by  friends in their dhukus from all over the world. This is the result.
